I have a confession: I love Genshin Impact puzzles the way I love assembling IKEA furniture—confidently, loudly, and with at least one moment of pure panic. The Moontide Sea puzzle in 2026 is exactly that kind of ride. You do not need a guide the size of a dissertation, but you do need to find three missing Pioneer Source Structures, and they are all hiding in nearby ruins. No cross-map hiking required. Lovely.

Here is the short version: locate the three structures, wake them up, and let them float to the middle. The long version involves lifts, floating jellyfish-ish swarms, energy spheres, and red patrol structures that will absolutely steal your pearl if you blink. I learned that last part the hard way, twice, because apparently I enjoy character development.
The Northern Ruins: Where the Structure Is Only Half Finished
Head to the northern ruins and activate the lift to go down. Take energy from the cube, then activate the sphere next to it. Surprise! It is an incomplete source structure. It floats up and waits while you deal with the enemy that appeared. I stood there for a second, offended by the audacity.
Use the lift to go up and jump through the swarm above you. Those creatures are holding the missing piece. Once the Pioneer Source Structure is complete, it moves to the middle and rests on one of the pedestals. One down, two to go. 🧩

The Southwest Ruins: Push the Pearl, Avoid a Nap
Turn southwest from the Moontide Sea puzzle to see a wandering Pioneer Source Structure moving an Ancient Moon Pearl. Take the energy from the structure to release the energy sphere, then push it to the empty pedestal buried underground. A chest appears, along with a deactivated source structure. Take energy from any sphere and throw it at the structure to turn it on. It moves to the middle and activates another pedestal. Two down. I was feeling dangerously competent.

The Northeast Ruins: Red Structures Have No Manners
Head for the northeastern ruins for the final structure location. You will find an empty pedestal and two patrolling red structures. Walk to the end of the ruins while going northeast, and there should be some energy spheres. Push one of them around to the pedestal while avoiding the structures, because they will snatch the pearl. Yes, snatch. They are rude little roombas with a grudge.
If you encounter a bug and the spheres do not appear where they should, try teleporting to another waypoint outside the Blue Moon, then come back and see if anything spawned. If not, quit the game completely and come back. I know, I know—classic 2026 gaming therapy.

Once the sphere is on the pedestal, fly down and open the big chest to find an energy source. Take it and throw the energy at the inactivated structure to turn it on. It goes to the middle as the final missing structure, completing the Moontide Sea puzzle. Cue the short cutscene and my tiny victory dance.

Loot Time: Chests, Chests, and More Chests đź’°
After the cutscene, go to the middle and use the lift to go up to see an exquisite chest. If you turn east, there is a small floating platform full of spheres. Go there and throw energy at them to reveal a luxurious chest as well as a precious chest. I do not make the rules, but I do follow the chests.

Additionally, use the nearby portal to travel through the lane, arriving somewhere outside the map where another precious chest and common chest are found. At this point my inventory was singing, and so was I. Badly.
| Structure | Location | What to Do |
|---|---|---|
| First | Northern ruins | Ride the lift down, grab energy from the cube, activate the sphere, defeat the enemy, ride up, jump through the swarm for the missing piece |
| Second | Southwest of the puzzle | Take energy from the wandering structure, release the sphere, push it to the underground pedestal, open the chest, throw energy at the deactivated structure |
| Third | Northeast ruins | Find the energy spheres at the end of the ruins, push one to the pedestal while avoiding red structures, open the big chest, throw energy at the structure |
Final Blabbering
The Moontide Sea puzzle is not hard once you know the three locations. It is just fussy. It wants you to do a little elevator ride, a little swimming through angry floating things, a little pearl pushing, and a little patience with red patrol structures that clearly skipped etiquette class. As of 2026, this is still my go-to route, and I am happy to report that the chests make the shenanigans worth it. Now go forth, complete the puzzle, and pretend you did it on the first try. I will pretend with you.
